Deputy speaker, Japanese envoy meet on economic cooperation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Sheikh Khaled Atiya on Monday discussed economic cooperation with the Japanese ambassador in Baghdad. Today, Atiya received the Japanese envoy to Iraq, Shujik Okawa, in his Baghdad-based office and discussed with him “means of boosting economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of electricity, oil, tourism and housing,” according to a statement released by Atiya’s office and received by IraqiNews.com. Meanwhile, the Japanese official said that his country has contributed to the reconstruction of Samawa province in the aftermath of the war. “We are doing our best to carry out projects in the fields of oil, electricity, etc. and we look forward to cooperation with the (Iraqi) Council of Representatives in this regard…,” Okawa said.
