Official delegation to inspect shortage of services in Basra

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Services and Construction parliamentary Commission announced the formation of a joint delegation from ministers and parliamentarians to visit Basra province to inspect the shortage in services there.

Chairman of the committee, MP Viyan Dikheel, told Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) that “A delegation has been formed to comprise the ministers of electricity, water resources, municipalities and Public Works in addition to members of parliament to conduct a visit to the province of Basra soon to find out the problems faced by the province and resolve them as soon as possible.”

She added that “The delegation agreed upon two types of solutions, the first would be immediate which will be implemented during this summer and the second type will be a strategic plan for service projects in the province.”

Thursday morning a meeting was held in the office of the First Deputy Speaker of the parliament, Qusay al-Sihail, and was attended by the services ministers, heads of parliamentary committees and MPs from Basra province to discuss the situation of electric power and the reality of the services and the delay of the projects in some provinces.

On the other hand, the deputies of Basra province threatened during the meeting that they will demand to investigate the Minister of Electricity Abdul Karim Aftan in parliament if his Ministry fails to improve the electric power in the province during the period of one month starting from today.
