22 wanted men arrested, 34 bombs defused in Baghdad

Iraq-Atta BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi security forces have arrested 22 wanted men, released a kidnapped man, and defused 34 bomb during security raids in Baghdad in the past 24 hours, the spokesman for the Baghdad operations command said on Tuesday. “The forces detained 22 wanted men and freed a kidnapped man during operations in the Iraqi capital in the past 24 hours,” General Qassem Atta told IraqiNews.com. “The forces also defused 34 explosive charges and seized amounts of weapons and ammunition,” he added. He did not add further details. Since February 2007, Iraqi security forces have launched a large-scale operation dubbed as Fardh al-Qanoon (The Law Imposing) to crack down on gunmen and to stamp the rule of law in Baghdad and its suburbs.
