Baghdad

We have begun conferring security pact with Iraq – U.K. ambassador

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The British ambassador in Iraq on Tuesday revealed that discussions were underway with the Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki, to sign a long-term security agreement similar to the Iraqi-U.S. proposed one. “Negotiations were practically started,” the British ambassador in Baghdad told IraqiNews.com. “The Iraqi government understands that there should be an agreement to organize the presence of British forces in Iraq,” he said. “Britain wants normal relations with Iraq, as a free country that has sovereignty over its lands,” he added. “It is important that the legislative sides in Iraq agree with the pact and understand its importance,” he noted.
