Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Ramadan month in Iraq starts on Saturday according to the statements of the religious authorities in Najaf and the Sunni Endowment in Baghdad.

A source in the office of the Religious Authority Ayotallah, Ali al-Sistani, stated “Saturday is the first day of Ramadan after observing the crescent in Iraq and the neighboring countries in addition to America.”

The Sunni Endowment announced on Thursday that Saturday will be the first day of Ramadan.

A source in the Sunni Endowment stated “Saturday will be the first day of Ramadan because the crescent of Ramadan was not observed on Thursday.”

The office of the Religious Authority, Mohammed Saeed al-Hakim, announced that “After approving that Friday is the completion of Shaaban month, Saturday will be the first day of Ramadan.”

The offices of the Religious Authorities, Mohammed al-Yaqoubi and Bashir al-Najafi announced that Saturday will be the first day of Ramadan, asking the Almighty to bless the Iraqis in this month and make it the month of peace and prosperity.
