Demands to probe journalist’s assassination attempt

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Journalistic Freedoms Committee at the Iraqi Journalists Union on Thursday demanded an “urgent investigation” into the assassination attempt that targeted the manager of the semi-official Al-Iraqiya TV station’s office in Salah al-Din province, while he was on his way to Baghdad. “We call on the security apparatus and officials in the province to urgently investigate into the incident and to bring those involved to the court,” said a release issued by the Union and received by IraqiNews.com. “We also reiterate our demands for an activation of the journalists’ protection bill that was proposed by the Union,” it added.
