Sadr criticizes IJS’ ceremony
Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The leader of the Sadr Trend Muqtada al-Sadr severely criticized the ceremony held by the Iraq Journalists Syndicate in the Iraqi Capital Baghdad to celebrate the anniversary of the Iraqi Press Day.
In response to a question raised by his followers over spending millions of US Dollars on inviting singers to this ceremony with knowledge of the Premier Nouri al-Maliki, although it is considered a violation for the Islamic traditions, al-Sadr said “Regrettably, it is a clear violation for the Islamic traditions,” noting that “I have called Ali al-Dabbagh who denied the knowledge of Council of Ministers about inviting singers to this ceremony and we are still investigating the issue.”
The IJS held a ceremony on June 29 to celebrate Iraqi Press Day which was attended by governmental officials, journalistic delegations as well as Arab and foreign artistic delegations to participate the Iraqi journalists their celebrations.
The ceremony witnessed artistic activities and songs from Arab singers such as Madlin Tabar.
