Sihail, UNDP discuss forming up "National Council of Waters" for Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The First Deputy Speaker, Qusay al-Sihail discussed with a delegation from UN Development Program (UNDP) the issue of forming up the National Council of Waters in Iraq. A statement by the Information Office of the 1st Deputy Speaker cited Sunday “Sihail received a delegation from the UN Development Program headed by the Regional Director of the UNDP, Peter Bajlor where they reviewed the problems experienced by Iraq in field of water and the law draft related to forming up the National Council of Water which will be responsible for offering instructions and guidance and to provide strategic advice to the Government of Iraq.” “Both sides discussed possibility of forming mutual workshop to display the experiences of the advanced countries which have such councils to take advantage of them in the topic of law draft as well as the type of support that could be provided by the UNDP to the process of approving the law,” the statement added. For their side, the members of the delegation expressed willingness to “offer all kinds of support to the Parliament in order to endorse this law.”
