Iraqi-U.S. forces raid Sadrist lawmaker’s house in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Joint Iraqi-U.S. forces on Friday raided the house of an Iraqi lawmaker in north of Kut and confiscated her bodyguards’ weapons, an official source said. “The forces stormed the house of Sadrist MP Iman Jalal in al-Nuamaniya district in north of Kut,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The forces id not arrest anyone but confiscated all her bodyguards’ weapons,” he added, without giving further details. The incident came only 48 hours after Iraqi forces received the security file in Wassit from the Multinational forces. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad , is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra . Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
