SLC MP: Sadr Trend withdraws from project of toppling Maliki

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Haitham al-Jouburi, of the State of Law Coalition expected that “The Sadr Trend has withdrawn from the project of withdrawing confidence from the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “I think the Sadr Trend has withdrawn from this project and moved to the project of the political reformation and this is what the Trend called for before,” noting that “Some committees are formed by the Iraqi National Alliance where the Sadr Trend is part of them.”

He ruled out “The Sadr Trend’s turning into opposition to the INA which is the largest bloc in the parliament.”

Earlier, the spokesperson of the IS, Maysoun al-Damlouji, stated to IraqiNews.com “We managed to get the required signatures to withdraw confidence from Maliki,” noting that “The MPs’ signatures were collected from all the blocs.”

The head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, revealed that he promised the political blocs “if they managed to gather 124 MPs supporting withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, I will complete them to become 164 MPs.”
