Sadr rules out holding national meeting or settling political crisis

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced his “Readiness to convince the sides of Erbil meeting to give up their attempt to withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, if he conducted the political reforms.”

During his meeting with a number of media outlets, including IraqiNews.com, at his house in Najaf province on Sunday, Sadr assured “If the request to withdrawing confidence from Maliki has negative consequences on the Iraqis, I will not support this request but the government did not present the services as required.”

He ruled out “Holding the national meeting or settling the political crisis because all sides are adherent to their stances.”

“The request for withdrawing confidence from Maliki aimed at pressurizing Maliki and our first demand was the reformations,” he added.

He talked about what happened during Erbil meeting saying “Some Kurdish sides talked in an extreme way about Kirkuk but we opposed them strongly.”

About the Iranian pressures, he stressed “Iran can not change our decisions which we took despite the pressures.”

Over the calls for conducting early elections, he mentioned “I hope the crisis not to reach this stage.”
