MP calls Maliki to implement Erbil Agreement to settle crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Lateef Mustafa, of Taghyeer bloc called “The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and the State of Law Coalition to adopt openness towards the other blocs and to implement Erbil Agreement to settle the crisis.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “There is an urgency for holding the national meeting,” noting that “The settlement could be reached among the political sides if the SLC presents concessions and implements the demands of the other blocs.”

“The political blocs called for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, mention that Maliki promised to apply Erbil Agreement but he did not,” he added.

“Maliki should conduct urgent steps to rebuild the trust among the blocs through the dialogue,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that the number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.

The political sides which held a meeting in Erbil on last Sunday decided to send “A clarifying message to confirm that the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, are constitutionally suffesient and valid.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
