IIP denies financing Egyptian presidential candidate’s campaign

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Islamic Party IIP denied donating $ five million for the Muslim Brothers in Egypt to finance the electoral campaign of the Egyptian presidential candidate Mohammed Mursi.

A statement by the IIP received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited Tuesday “The media reports about donation of the IIP with $ five million for the Muslim Brothers in Egypt to support the electoral Presidential campaign of the MB’s candidate (Mohammed Mursi) are groundless.”

The statement added “We wished that this report is true in order to repay the Muslim Brothers Movement in Egypt which supported the Iraqis with millions of dollars during the economic embargo era.”

“These groundless reports aim at defaming the Iraqi Islamic Party as well as the Muslim Brothers movement,” the statement concluded.
