Allawi: Talabani suggests withdrawing confidence from Maliki

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iraqiya Slate revealed that “The President, Jalal Talabani, is the one who suggested the proposal of withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.”

In a press interview posted on his website, Allawi stated “Talabani suggested this proposal during the meeting which involved me, the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi.”

“While Nijaifi was speaking about the constitutional procedures for withdrawing confidence from Maliki, Talabani assured that the constitution authorizes him to withdrawing confidence from the PM,” he added.

“The sides met in Erbil reached agreement over the deteriorations of the general situation rather than over the proposal of withdrawing confidence only,” he added.

“The general situation witnesses huge violations on three levels, the first the constitutional violations committed by Maliki, the second is the violations of Human Rights, the third is the monopolization of the political decision,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that the number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.

The political sides which held a meeting in Erbil on last Sunday decided to send “A clarifying message to confirm that the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, are constitutionally suffesient and valid.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
