White bloc calls to host Maliki in parliament over crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The White bloc called to “Host the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, in the parliament to clarify facts about the current political crisis.”

This call comes while the Iraqiya Slate, the Kurdistani Alliance and the Sadr Trend are preparing for summoning Maliki to investigate him to vote after this step over withdrawing confidence from him.

The Secretary General of the White bloc, Jamal al-Batiekh, stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Hosting Maliki in the parliament will show for Iraqis the reality and the hidden aspects of the crisis in addition to the sides behind it.”

He stressed “Hosting Maliki as soon as possible,” assuring that “This step will enhance Maliki’s popularity.”

Separately, the rapporteur of the parliament, Mohamed al-Khalidi, mentioned “The next period will witness investigating Maliki in the parliament.”

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that “The number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.”

The political sides which held a meeting in Erbil on last Sunday decided to send “A clarifying message to confirm that the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, are constitutionally suffesient and valid.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
