MP: Blocs not able to withdraw confidence from Maliki

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Kareem Alewi, assured that “The political blocs will not be able to withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, due to the lack of the quorum even if these blocs intend to investigate him in the parliament.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The blocs failed to accomplish this project through the President, Jalal Talabani, and will fail in case the blocs summon Maliki to the parliament to investigate him.”

“Basically, the political blocs which called for withdrawing confidence from Maliki committed a lot of violations against the political process and the citizens,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that “The number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.”

The political sides which held a meeting in Erbil on last Sunday decided to send “A clarifying message to confirm that the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, are constitutionally suffesient and valid.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
