Laban: Erbil, Najaf meetings "Not fruitful"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Sadiq al-Laban, of the State of Law Coalition pointed out “The meetings which were held in Erbil and Najaf provinces were not fruitful and did result in accomplishing the task of withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The wisdom of the President, Jalal Talabani, overcame the wills of the sides that aim at leading the political process to the unknown.”

He added “The best solution for settling the pending issues is to conduct dialogues to settle them through the constitution,” noting that “The meetings did not discuss issues that concern the citizens.”

He called “The media outlets to focus on the issues discussed in these meetings to show the sides which adopt the citizens’ interests.”

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that the number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
