AKA News agency describes IS, ST, KA attempts to topple Maliki as setback

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Agency of Kurdistan News (AKA news) reported that “The attempts of the Iraqiya Slate, Sadr Trend and Kurdistani Alliance failed in withdrawing confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki,” describing these endeavors as “a setback after Maliki’s success in co-opting 20 MPs from the IS to his side.” AKA News clarified that “In spite of the statements issued from certain political parties especially the IS, about rising the number of the signatories on the request of withdrawing confidence to 170 MPs; However, the President Talabani surprised all sides by announcing that the signatures did not reach the legal limit.” “It is worth mentioning that all constituents of the Iraqi National Alliance, except the Sadr Trend, reject withdrawing confidence from Maliki,” it added, noting that “They uphold adopting dialogue among the political sides according to the President’s initiative.” “The State of Law Coalition began talking about a possible solution for the political crisis through resorting to holding the national meeting away from the topic of withdrawing the confidence,” the Agency mentioned. “Since the formation of the current government, the IS and the SLC disputed on the overall political issues but what aggravated the disputes is the entry of the Kurds on the line of the political crisis and the ST’s defection in its stances from the INA,” AKA News concluded.
