Basra to demonstrate against Electricity ministry, says Awad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Uday Awad, of the Ahrar bloc, revealed that “The citizens of Basra province will demonstrate against the Ministry of Electricity for not fulfilling its promises to provide electricity to the province.”

A statement by Awad received by IraqiNews.com cited “The citizens will demonstrate to protest the shortage of providing electricity to Basra province represented by one hour on post each five hours of power off.”

“The MoE promised to improve the electricity supplies in Basra during summer but the statistics show that there is no improvement at all and these promises are false,” he added.

He expected “The demonstration will coincide with the increase of the temperature to call for improving the electricity service in Basra due to is weather and privilege as being the most important city in Iraq.”
