Nijaifi, US official discuss political crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the US charge d’affaires in Baghdad discussed the political crisis.

A statement by Nijaifi’s office received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Nijaifi received the US charge d’affaires at his office in Baghdad on Thursday morning as they reviewed the consequences of the current political crisis in the country.”

“Nijaifi stressed the importance of resorting to the constitution in solving the pending issues and to avoid the escalation,” the statement concluded.

The political scene witnesses escalated disputes among the political blocs which led some of the political sides to call for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki after several meetings in Erbil and Najaf provinces.
