Sadrist bloc holds U.S. forces responsible for lawmaker’s injury

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Spokesman for the Sadrist bloc Ahmed al-Massoudi on Thursday held the U.S. forces responsible for the assault against its lawmaker Saleh al-Eikeli this morning, who was seriously injured. “The incident took place in an area controlled by U.S. and Iraqi forces so we held the U.S. army responsible of the attack,” al-Massoudi told IraqiNews.com. “The lawmaker’s health condition still remains critical and could undergo a surgery later as he was wounded in his head,” he added. A medical source had said earlier a Sadrist lawmaker was seriously injured on Thursday in a bomb explosion in eastern Baghdad. The Sadrist bloc has 30 seats out of the 275-seat parliament. SH (P) 1
