Man to hang for Karbala bombing attack

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: The Karbala Criminal Court sentenced a man to death by hanging after he was found guilty of waging a car bombing attack in a residential section near the city more than two years ago, killing two people and injuring four others, an official source said on Saturday. “The convict had confessed to the charges pressed against him during the investigations. He said that rigged with explosives and detonated a vehicle in al-Amil neighborhood, (3 km) southwest of Karbala for the sum of $10,000,” the source told IraqiNews.com. A white Caprice rigged with explosives went off on February 25, 2006 near the city of Karbala, leaving two people killed and four others wounded.
