Maliki sends condolence message for his Lebanese Counterpart

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, sent a message for the Lebanese Counterpart, Najeeb Miqati, and conducted a phone call with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabieh Bari, over the current events in Lebanon and the region in general.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Maliki condoled Miqati for the martyrdom of some Lebanese pilgrims in Iraq in his message and discussed the current political situation in the region as well as the challenges that face Lebanon at this time.”

“Maliki assured his confidence that the Lebanese will overcome the current challenges and will confront the foreign plots which aim at arousing the internal fight,” the statement added.

“Maliki conducted a phone call with Bari over the political situation in Lebanon,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, a source mentioned that “Unidentified gunmen attacked a bus transporting Lebanese and Iranian pilgrims by automatic weapons on Wednesday afternoon in (7 k) area of western Ramadi,” noting that “The initial count of the victims were 12 killed and injured persons.” \
