Badr criticizes Qarthawi’s appeal for Talabani to postpone Hashimi’s trial
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Badr Organization criticized the appeal presented by the head of the International Union of Islam Scholars,Yusif al-Qardhawi,to the President, Jalal Talabani, to intervene in the case of the judcially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, to postpone his trial.
A statement by Badr Organization received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “It was better for Qarthawi to care for the people of Bahrian, who suffered from the crimes commited by the Saudi occupation against them, instead of defending a person presented for the courts for committing sectarian crimes.”
Earlier, a presidential statement quoted Qardhawi as saying, “The International Union of Muslim Scholars presents its compliments to your Excellency, wishing you more success in the development course in dear Iraq.”
The statement added “In order to preserve the supreme interest of the Republic of Iraq, government and people and prevent strife among Iraq’s communities and to avoid any sectarianism, we invite you to take more time in judging Hashimi till studying the case from all sides according to the national accord since it is the best way to settle all problems and disputes.”
The central Criminal Court has lifted Hashimi’s trail in absentia till the end of the May.
The Iraqiya Slate has announced that it will persuade Hashimi to attend the trial in case the Premier Nouri al-Maliki adhere to Arbil agreement, noting that “IS is quietly sure that Hashmi is innocent from all charges against him.”
