Talabani, Maliki discuss means to achieve permanent concord in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President, Jalal Talabani, and the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki discussed the political developments and the means to achieve a stable and permanent concord in Iraq.

A presidential statement received by IraqiNews.com on Sunday cited “Talabani received Maliki in his office in Baghdad on Sunday and discussed the political crisis in Iraq.”

“Talabani assured that dialogue is the only way to settle disputes confirming that the presidential statement, comprising eight items, included ideas that can be used while conducting dialogue,” the statement added.

The statement pointed out “Maliki announced his support to the presidential statement and the role of Talabani to settle disputes,” noting that “Talabani’s call to gather the disputed sides shows his wish to sustain stability in Iraq.”

Earlier, Talabani called the political blocs to “Stop the exchanging the tensed media statements and to adopt the constitution in addition to former agreements as means to settle the crisis.”
