U.S. base in Kut rocketed
WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: The U.S. military base in western Kut was attacked by unidentified gunmen using Katyusha rockets on Monday, with no reports of casualties, a police source said. “Four rockets hit the U.S. Delta base in western Kut this evening,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “Police and security forces deployed around the area to search for suspects,” he added. No word was immediately available from the U.S. army on the incident. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad , is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra . Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
