Negotiations over security pact to resume soon – Kurdish MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A lawmaker from the Kurdistan Alliance (KA) on Tuesday said that Iraqi-U.S. negotiations over the proposed security pact would be resumed either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow to know the U.S. opinion regarding amendments suggested by the Iraqi side. “Most of the parliamentary blocs have not been informed of the amendments,” MP Mahmou Othman told IraqiNews.com. “Sources close to the Iraqi government said that the U.S. side has agreed to some of the amendments,” he added. The Kurdistan Alliance, the second largest political bloc, holds 53 out of 275 seats in Iraq’s Council of Representatives. MH (P) / SS 1
