Ammo found in northern Wassit

WASSIT, Sept. 19 (Iraqi News) – Iraqi army forces on Friday found amounts of ammunitions in northern of al-Suwaira district, north of Wassit, senior army officer said. “A force from the 32 nd brigade of the 8 th division seized an amount of ammunitions hidden in a farm in northern al-Suwaira district, north of Kut, during a security raid,” Colonel Majed al-Saray, commander of the 32 nd brigade, told IraqiNews.com – Voices of Iraq (Iraqi News). “The forces found 12 Katyusha rockets, 20 mortar shells, 10 hand grenades and two local-made bombs,” he added. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad , is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra . Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
