Zebari invites Belgian counterpart to visit Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zebari, invited officially his Belgian counterpart, Didie Reynders, to visit Iraq, leaving the timing of the visit to be determined by the diplomatic sides of both counties.

A statement by the Iraqi Foriegn Ministry cited "Zebari met his Belgian counterpart at the headquarter of the Belgian Foreign Ministry, where the two sides conducted talks concentrated on re-opening the Belgian Embassy in Baghdad, adopting mechanism for political dialogue between the foreign ministries of both countries, holding regular meetings to discuss issues of interest for both countries as well as sustaining economic and commercial relations, in addition to inviting the Belgian companies to participate in Baghdad International Fair and to take part in reconstruction process in Iraq."

"An agreement was signed yesterday, Friday, in Brussel, for partnership and cooperation between Iraq and the European Union," the statement added.

 

"The agreement was signed by the FM Zebari, and the EU Superior Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton," the statement concluded.
