Maliki visits Telecommunications Ministry

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) –The Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki visited the Ministry of Telecommunications and observed the impediments that hurdle the performance of the Ministry.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by Iraqi News cited Wednesday “Maliki held a meeting with the Minister of Telecommunications Mohammed Allawi and several General Directors and officials at the Ministry of Telecommunications to follow up issues related to the contracts and projects of the ministry and gave his remarks over them.”

“Maliki stressed importance of developing the performance of the Ministry due its vital role on the economic, services and security aspects which affect directly the performance of the State and the citizens as well,” the statement added.

The statement quoted Maliki as saying “Our visit to the Telecommunications Ministry comes to observe closely the impediments that hurdle the performance of the Ministry.”

“The Minister and the officials in the Ministry of Telecommunications briefed Maliki about the activities, projects and contracts concluded by the Ministry,” the statement mentioned.

“Maliki make a tour in the departments and sections of the Ministry and met the employees of the Ministry,” the statement concluded.
