Maliki congratulates French, Russian Presidents for winning elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, congratulated the presidents of Russia and of France on the occasion of winning the presidential elections in their countries.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Maliki sent a congratulatory message to President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his tenure the post of the President of the Russian Federation officially,” expressing his wishes “To develop relations between the two countries and to get further cooperation to serve the interests of both countries.”

Maliki also sent a congratulatory message to the French President Francois Hollande on the occasion of his winning the presidential election.

Maliki wished “The Iraqi-French relations to witness further development and cooperation in various fields.”

Vladimir Putin got 6.63 percent of the votes in the elections held on the fourth of last March.

The Socialist candidate, Francois Hollande, won the post of the President of France, by getting 52% versus 48% for his rival Nicolas Sarkozy, the former president of the vote during the second round of elections.
