Ashur urges Government to resort to parliament while concluding foreign agreements

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) –The Consultant of the Iraqiya Slate, Hani Ashur, pointed out that "The Article 61 of the Constitution obliged the government to present any agreement to be concluded with foreign countries to a vote in the parliament," noting that "According to the Constitution, the government should presented the agreement concluded lately with Kuwait and Iran to the parliament."

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) "The agreements should be approved by the parliament and they could be canceled any time."

"Holding agreements with any country is among the authorities of the parliament according to the constitution and any other way of concluding the agreements is violating the constitution and marginalizing the role of the parliament," he concluded.
