Basra MPs criticize performance of Ministry of Electricity

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MPs of Basra Province criticized “The performance of the Ministry of Electricity.”

Independent MP, Sabah al-Saidi, in a joint press conference with MPs, Jawad al-Bazoni, and Uday Awad, stated “The government failed in improving the services especially the electric power,” noting that “Corruption is behind this failure.”

For his part, Bazoni criticized spending tens of billions USD during the last years to improve the electric power without realizing any improvement while some officials stated the possibility of exporting the electric power to the neighboring countries.

Member of Oil and Energy Parliamentary Committee, MP Uday Awad, revealed that “The production of the electric power reduced and about 1000 Mega-Watt are lost despite the official statement over the upgrading the electricity situation by erecting electric Power Generating stations.
