SJC: Hashimi’s trial postponed due to defense objection

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Supreme Judicial Council stated that the decision behind postponing the trial of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, was due to the objection raised by the defense team about the lack of jurisdiction of the criminal court to sue the high officials.”

A statement by the SJC quoted the Spokesperson of the SJC, Abdul Sattar al-Biraqdar, as saying “The objection which is raised by the defense team is the third one in the current week.”

Hashimi who is currently in Turkey is supposed to be sued on Thursday in absentia for three crimes.

Hashimi’s case is one of the pending issues among the political blocs especially between the State of Law Coalition and the Iraqiya Slate.
