Arms, ammo seized in Falluja

ANBAR, Sept. 21 (Iraqi News) – Joint forces seized an amount of arms & munitions southeast of the city of al-Falluja on Sunday, a police source said. “A joint force from the Iraqi police and the Multi-National Force (MNF) seized weapons and munitions in the Industrial Zone, southeastern Falluja, and were destroyed in place,” the source, who refused to be named, told IraqiNews.com – Voices of Iraq – (Iraqi News). Falluja, the largest city in Anbar province, is 45 km west of Baghdad , while Ramadi, the capital, lies 110 km west of Baghdad . Anbar is the largest province in Iraq geographically. Encompassing much of the country’s western territory, it shares borders with Syria , Jordan and Saudi Arabia . Anbar is overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim Arab. Anbar’s main cities are Falluja, the capital Ramadi, Haditha, Hit, Aana and Rutba. The name of the province translates “granaries,” as this region was the primary entrepôt on the western borders of Lakhmid Kingdom .
