KA: Determining Kurdistan Region independence not to split from Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistani Alliance declared that the “determination of Kurdistan Region’s fate does not mean splitting form Iraq.”

The Speaker of the Alliance said to (IraqiNews.com) “Announcing independence is not subject to timelines or circumstances, and it is a legal right to all nations and it does not mean always separation,” noting that “The Kurds were an essential player in maintaining Iraq’s unity.”

He added “The President of Kurdistan Region has clarified that he does not have the right to determine the region’s independence but the region’s people have this right.”

The Associated Press Agency has reported Barzani as saying “If the current dilemma will not end before the local elections of next September, then the Iraqi Kurds will launch a referendum to decisde whether they want to live under Baghdad control or in a dependent State.”
