Urgent – FM summons Turkish Ambassador to protest Erdogan’s statements

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Foreign Ministry communed the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq at the Ministry to inform him the protest of the Iraqi Government over the statements of the Turkish Premier Reccep Tayeb Erdogan concerning Iraq.


A statement by the Ministry cited on Sunday “The Foreign Ministry communed the Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad Younis Demirer where he was received by the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Labid Abbawi who informed him about the strong protest of the Iraqi Government over the recent statements of the Turkish PM Erdogan concerning the political situation in Iraq since it represents an unacceptable interference in the Iraqi internal affairs.”


“Abbawi told the Turkish Ambassador to put an end for the Turkish Government’s interferences which violate the Iraqi sovereignty and wished that Turkey will resort to the diplomatic ways of expressing points of view in relation to developments in both countries in order to sustain good relations between Iraq and Turkey.”


The Turkish Premier Reccep Tayeb Erdogan, after his meeting with the President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani in Turkey, has severely criticized the Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki and accused him of “Selfishness and arousing sectarian conflicts in Iraq.”
