Ki-moon calls Arab leaders to listen to their people
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary-General of the United Nations called the Arab leaders to listen to the demands of their people.
During his speech in Baghdad Summit on Thursday, he stated “We call all Arab leaders to listen to the demands of their people where achieving democracy is not an easy issue and the change has reached the Arab countries,” noting that “The Arab countries need to depend on the UN to settle their issues.”
“The revolutions of the Arab people have given the Arab League and important and practical role to lead the Arabic work,” he added.
He appreciated what Iraq has done to resume its real role and position among the Arab countries especially after what it has suffered from the international sanctions and wars.
He called the Syrian government and opposition to “Adhere to the sixth articles of the International- Arab Envoy Initiative, Kofi Annan, in order to stop the bloodshed of the Syrian people.”
“The Syrian government failed to grant the demands of its people in addition to use force for its people where we call it in this Summit to adhere to Annan’s initiative,” he concluded.
He called Israel and the Palestinian leaders to achieve a historical decision to settle their crises.
