Talabani arrives in Kirkuk after deadliest attack
KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani arrived in Kirkuk city on Thursday in the wake of a deadly attack that left 150 people killed or wounded, according to an informed local source. “Talabani arrived on Thursday afternoon in Kirkuk, where he was received by the local council chief and a host of security officials in the city,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The president’s arrival had been preceded by a lethal bombing attack inside a restaurant in the city, which left 47 people killed and 100 others wounded. Kirkuk has witnessed tight security measures since Thursday morning in preparation for Talabani’s visit as security patrols were intensified on the city’s streets and intersections.
