MP: Hakim’s visit to Kurdistan Region comes to preserve Iraq’s federal, democratic regime
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council announced that “The visit of SIIC Head, Ammar al-Hakim, to Kurdistan Region comes in a sensitive time to preserve the federal and democratic regime of Iraq as well as its constitution.”
The spokesman of the SIIC stated to Iraqi News “Hakim’s visit to Kurdistan Region gained a great deal of respect by all levels.”
“The visit aimed at getting the support of the Kurd leaders for announcing Basra province as the Economic Capital for Iraq,” he added.
“Hakim, during the visit, called to avoid escalation and to prepare the atmospheres for settling the political crisis,” he concluded.
The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, heading by a high-level delegation arrived in Sulaimaniya province on Thursday to participate in the annual commemoration of Halabcha crime committed by the former regime against Halabcha city.
