Truck driver kidnapped near Makhmour

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A truck driver was kidnapped by unidentified persons near the district of Makhmour, south of Mosul, on Sunday, an Iraqi army source revealed. “The man was kidnapped near the village of Sultan Abdullah, on the road linking Makhmour to al-Qiyara, (80 km) south of Mosul, and was led to an unknown place by gunmen who left the truck at the site of the kidnapping,” the source told IraqiNews.com. This is the second kidnapping on this road in one month. Another driver was kidnapped in this area last week. Makhmour, 68 km southwest of Arbil, is a district that administratively belongs to the province of Ninewa. It is subject to dispute between the autonomous Kurdistan region’s government and the central Iraqi government. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
