Deadly Adhamiya blast casualties up to 96

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Casualties from Monday’s earlier attacks in Baghdad’s al-Adhamiya neighborhood rose to 28 deaths and 68 others wounded, an Iraqi police source said. “The recent count of casualties from a suicide bombing that was followed by two improvised explosive device blasts in al-Kisra area, al-Adhamiya neighborhood, northern Baghdad, jumped to 28 deaths and 68 others injured,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The attacks also left severe damage to nearby stores and vehicles,” he added. Earlier in the day, Maj. General Qassem Atta, the official spokesman for the Fardh al-Qanoon (law imposing) security plan, said the blasts left five killed and 40 others wounded. “On Monday morning, a terrorist detonated her explosive belt near a restaurant in al-Kisra, followed by two improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in the same site, bringing casualties up to five deaths and 40 others wounded,” Atta told IraqiNews.com.
