Salah al-Din local council member, son sentenced to death

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: A court on Monday sentenced a member of the Salah al-Din provincial council and his son to death by hanging after they were found guilty of murdering the city’s governor two years ago, according to a media source in the province. “The Salah al-Din Central Court handed down death sentences against Abdelhadi Jameel al-Ojaili and his son Muhammad after they were convicted on the murder of Amira al-Rubaie, the governor’s spouse, with an improvised explosive device that was emplaced in an air conditioner in her clinic and detonated by means of remote control,” the source told IraqiNews.com. A professor at the College of Medicine, Tikrit University, Rubaie was murdered in July 2006. Security forces in Baghdad had arrested Ojaili and his son early this year and handed them over to the authorities in Salah al-Din province. AmR (P) 2
