Guards of Diyala Governor abuse civilians in Diyala

Diyala, Baquba (IraqiNews.com) Some of the guards of Diyala Governor, Hashem al-Hayali, abused some civilians and greengrocers in a market for selling vegetables and fruit in Azim neighborhood of Diyala province.

The prominent figure, Tariq al-Ekab, stated to IraqiNews.com “The guards of the Governor stormed into the market and began beating the civilians, they even broke someone’s hand, and smashed the vehicles which were parked inside the market.”

According to Ekab “The reason behind this attack is that one of the Governor’s relative owns a similar market in another area and so he wanted to activate the trade movement at his relative’s market.”

Diyala Provincial Council elected Diyala Governor, Hashem al-Hayali, on 7th, March, 2012 and he was appointed to succeed the pervious Governor, Abdul Naser al-Mahdawy, who resigned from his post.
