Zubaidi urges to grant Basra its share of oil revenues

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Parliamentary Citizen Bloc Baqir Jabur al-Zubaidi called on the political blocs to support the project of (Basra, the Economic Capital of Iraq) which is to be endorsed in the agendas of the Parliament soon, stressing that “Basra should take its share of the oil wealth.” Zubaidi confirmed during the conference held to support this project in Basra that “Basra province should take its share of oil wealth before it goes to the other provinces.” “Citizen Bloc adopted the idea of nominating Basra as the Economic Capital according to the initiative of the Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim and formed a committee headed by the MP of Basra province Furat al-Shara,” he added. It is worth to be mentioned that the CB held an expanded conference, on Thursday, sponsored by Basra Provincial Council, to support the project of Basra the Economic Capital of Iraq with attendance of many the CB’s MPs and Basra Governor Hkalaf Abdul Samad as well as a number of officials in the province.
