MoHC: Next phase to witness great cooperation with World Bank

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of Housing and Construction Mohamed Saheb al-Daraji Chaired the Iraqi delegation which participates currently in the meetings of the projects funded by the World Bank in the field of roads and bridges, held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. Daraji said “We held extensive meetings with representatives of the World Bank concerning the projects to be funded by the Bank in fields of roads and bridges including the dry canal, the highway No.2 which links Umm Qasr port with each of Turkey, Iran, Syria and Jordon through a network of highways.” “The meeting also discussed the rehabilitation and maintenance of the highway no. [1], which extends from the southern regions of Iraq at Safwan and Basra down to the Syrian and Jordanian borders in accordance with global standards, where this project will secure Iraq’s vigorous economic activity,” the Minister added. Iraq seeks to build an integrated transportation system linking it with the regional countries through the dry canal which connects the Mediterranean’s countries, the Persian Gulf and East Asia’s States.
