CoI: "Seeking accuracy behind delay in settling corruption cases"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Commission of Integrity attributed the delay in issuing its verdicts and settling the cases to the need for a higher scrutiny in proving or denying the corruption cases.

A statement by the CoI cited that “The Chairman of the Commission, Alaa al-Saadi, and his Deputy Izzat Tawfiq Jafar and the Commission’s Spokesperson Hassan Karim responded to queries by some journalists during a consultative meeting with them by confirming that the delay in the issuance of verdicts in some issues related to corruption cases resulted from the need of the investigators to reach the highest degrees of preciseness in proving facts or disproving charges in order to issue fair and just judgments. “

“The officials in the Integrity Commission emphasized the need to deal with matters related to corruption and integrity with high accuracy and transparency so as to reflect the true image of the situations in Iraq,” the statement concluded.
