Wassit provincial council members released

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Coalition forces on Saturday released two Wassit provincial council members, who have been detained for two years, according to the council’s head. “On Saturday, the Multi-National Force (MNF) released from Camp Bocca Qasim al-Araji and Fadhil Abi al-Tayyeb, who have been detained by the U.S. forces since January 16, 2007,” Mohammed Mohsen Jabir told IraqiNews.com. “The council held an official reception for the released members, who were received by an official delegation at the MNF Delta Basra (7 km west of Kut),” according to Jabir. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
