Babel (IraqiNews.com) Babel local government announced allocating a piece of land within Hilla city to build stalls of low cost to collect the owners of the handcarts, who sell their goods in unorganized kiosks, to move them away from Hilla major bazaar and al-Sadrain square because their presence there block the traffic movement. Babel Governor Mohamed al-Masoudi, said “The resolution came after a meeting held with representatives from Hilla Municipality, the Police Directorate and the owners of the handcarts to discuss the risks and disadvantages of the presence of these random stalls in a way that blocks the roads in front of the pedestrians and the transformation of the commodities, moreover it is difficult to control them in terms of security.” He added that “The local government decided to erect stalls because of the low level of the sellers’ income and due to thier inability to own shops,” noting that “The prices of renting the stalls will be affordable ones.”
