Iraq to celebrate International Day of Families, Tuesday
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq is going to celebrate with the world countries, tomorrow, May 15, the “International Day of Families” according to the resolution of the Assembly General of the United Nations in 1993. This day is intended to reflect the international community’s care and concern about families all over the world. The international day gives opportunity to develop awareness in families’ affairs and increase the knowledge about the social, economic and demographic aspects which affect them. In Iraq, due to wars, killing and displacement, the Iraqi family found itself suffering from countless problems, the woman in particular who found herself after losing the father, the brother and the husband responsible for raising her family. According to a study by the international Red Cross Organization, the percentage of women who support their families increased to reach a million, these women are enforced to practice jobs and works which do not suit them and meet their needs to live a decent life. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged on the occasion of the International Day of Families, “to support the families as they work on raising children and care elderly, besides help to build strong societies based on tolerance and provide dignity for all.”
